As an Applications Engineer, you will become a technical expert in promoting PostProcess solutions to customers aligning with various print technologies. This will require building relationships with current customers, supporting sales efforts with prospective customers, and continuing to monitor the ever-changing applications developing in the AM industry. At PostProcess, we are driven to provide Exceptional Customer Satisfaction through frequent communication and timely support.
As the technical expert in AM applications, you will regularly assist the Sales team with potential customer visits. During these visits, you will be the technical voice for any customer questions as they relate to the PPT solutions or customer applications and parts. These parts will span the full range of the manufacturing sector, from automotive to aerospace and medical. The AE will conduct this effort for both the PPT Territory Business Development Managers (TBDMs) and Channel Partner Sales teams.
After the sale, Applications Engineering will oversee the installation process. This will include certifying technicians, maintenance staff and manufacturing personnel that will utilize our comprehensive solution (software, hardware, chemistry). Applications Engineering will have responsibility for the maintenance and repair of previously installed equipment either under warranty or with customers that have purchased a Service Contract. Exceptional customer service during the contract period will help us achieve our aggressive Service Contract renewal rate.
Our technologies are constantly evolving along with the needs and requirements of our expanding customer base. Applications Engineers at PostProcess Technologies will be at the front line, determining what these needs are, and playing a vital role in the growth of both the company and the industry of Additive Manufacturing.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with customers to understand their application and how PostProcess Technologies solutions will work for those applications.
  • Provide application-specific details to FINISH3D for processing benchmarks from the customer.
  • Nurture and maintain trusted-advisor customer relationships beginning with the Benchmark process, through headquarter visits, site inspection, equipment installation and continued post-sale support, resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Spend notable time in Buffalo learning/understanding the technology and performing tasks include supporting the Benchmark process and becoming fully knowledgeable on how our Hardware,
  • Software and Chemistry (media and detergents) all work together to achieve optimal post-print results across all additive manufacturing technologies from thermoplastics, photopolymers, and metals.
  • Establish and maintain regular post-sale communication with each assigned customer to ensure equipment is being fully utilized and generating regular consumable sales.
  • Assist in the development of training materials, user guides, and maintenance procedures used both for customers and PPT employees as initial training tools and continued education.
  • Work directly with the Sales Team to identify Key Opportunities with existing and potential customers
  • Serve as the technical “voice of the customer” liaison between the customer and FINISH3D to promote continuous improvement activities in Hardware, Software, and Chemistry development.
  • Regularly update FINISH3D of new or advanced additive materials, processes, and customer applications and make recommendations for product improvements and or new product developments to ensure PostProcess Technologies maintains its position as the leading market innovator.
  • Perform pre-delivery customer site inspections to ensure all installation requirements are or will be met upon delivery of the equipment, providing for seamless equipment install and immediate customer utilization.
  • Install and integrate PPT solutions at customer’s facilities resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Administer Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and maintain thorough and accurate documentation throughout the entire process.
  • Extensive US travel required. Maintain availability and flexibility for on-call and on-site customer support.
  • Attend trade shows and other significant customer events.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Focus on customer service leading to exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding of Additive Manufacturing technologies and as a process.
  • Process development, improvement, and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of surface quality including mechanical and chemical treatments for improvement.
  • Ability to write case studies and white papers in support of PostProcess applications.
  • Troubleshooting various types of machinery.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and 3-5 years relevant experience, or acceptable combination of both
  • Leadership or management experience preferred
  • Experience using CRM programs such as SalesForce
  • Must hold valid driver’s license
  • Preferred: Security Clearance
